The Dental Hygienist plays a critical role in promoting oral health and preventing dental diseases within the community served by Upper Cardozo HC-100. This position involves performing thorough dental cleanings, applying preventive treatments, and educating patients on maintaining optimal oral hygiene. The Dental Hygienist collaborates closely with dentists and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans tailored to each patient's needs. By utilizing advanced dental care techniques and local anesthesia administration, the hygienist ensures patient comfort and safety during procedures. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to improving patients' overall health outcomes through proactive dental care and patient education.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
  • Valid state licensure to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
  • Certification in local anesthesia administration.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in dental care procedures and patient education.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a pediatric dental setting.
  • Additional certification in teeth whitening or cosmetic dental procedures.
  • Familiarity with dental assisting techniques to support dentists effectively.
  • Continuing education credits in advanced dental hygiene practices.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive dental cleanings and prophylaxis to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth.
  • Administer local anesthesia safely and effectively to facilitate various dental procedures.
  • Perform teeth whitening treatments and other cosmetic dental services as requested.
  • Educate patients of all ages, including pediatric patients, on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care.
  • Assist dentists during examinations and treatments by preparing instruments and managing patient comfort.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, documenting treatments, observations, and progress.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a sterile clinical environment.
  • Stay current with advancements in dental hygiene techniques and participate in continuing education.
