Role: Manager, Tax Compliance and Reporting
Location/ Schedule: Washington DC in office x a week 5
Pay: $100,000 - $105,000 / year

Our client, a prestigious University Manager, Tax Compliance and Reporting to oversee and ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and international tax regulation
Requirements
- Bachelors in a Accounting or Finance
- Min of 3 yrs of tax prep, financial reporting or public accounting experience
- 990 experience
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and timely filing of federal, state, local, and international tax returns, including but not limited to Forms 990, 990-T, DC-20, CHAR500, FBAR, sales tax filings, and property tax returns.
- Manage and maintain the University’s tax compliance calendar, ensuring timely submission of transactional and informational filings (W-2, 1099, 1098, 1042-S, etc.).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IRS and state tax authorities; manage audits, inquiries, and appeals as needed.
- Conduct tax research and draft memoranda to support positions and guide institutional policy.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting the University and advise leadership on implications.
- Maintain and improve tax-related policies, procedures, documentation, and internal controls.
- Provide tax guidance on issues related to scholarships, fellowships, honoraria, international taxation, and unrelated business income (UBIT).
- Collaborate with departments across the University including Payroll, Procurement, Facilities, Legal, and International Affairs to ensure tax compliance.
- Support compliance related to international operations, vendors, and staff, including tax treaty applications and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and internal stakeholders to collect data, review filings, and ensure accurate reporting.
- Lead training and communication initiatives to build campus-wide awareness of tax compliance responsibilities.
- Identify and implement process improvements in tax procedures to increase efficiency and compliance.
