Man of the People Snow Services is a trusted, locally owned snow and ice management company serving the Vail Valley. Our Snow Plow Operators enjoy a flat bi-weekly compensation draw and are eligible for incentive compensation.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Under minimal supervision the Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant operation of assigned Man of the People (MOTP) vehicles in the performance of snow removal services. The Driver is also responsible for various operating and administrative activities including but not limited to logs, incident reports, fueling, daily vehicle inspection, and accurate reporting of time worked. The Driver may also be required to perform Crew Member tasks in the support of completing assigned snow removal assignments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the safe operation of assigned vehicles for MOTP.
- Perform daily vehicle inspection for any assigned vehicle the Driver operates and document on provided inspection forms. Pre and Post daily inspections are required.
- Execute assigned routes and snow removal services in accordance with standard operating procedures and the scope of work for the assigned customer.
- Responsible for identifying appropriate conditions to execute appropriate removal requirements. Conditions you will need to identify include ice, snow, slush, and other conditions. Appropriate deployment of tactics for safe road clearance is required.
- Responsible for completing all forms, documents, checklists, and recordkeeping associated with the assigned service route and vehicle you drive.
- Responsible for keeping assigned vehicle(s) clean and refueled. Must notify management immediately if you identify any vehicle damage or equipment or operation malfunctions.
- Operate your assigned vehicle and snow removal equipment in accordance with MOTP policies, practices, and procedures.
- Document and report all incidents in a timely manner in accordance with MOTP policies, practices, and procedures.
ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Perform the duties of a Crew Member when assigned to ensure timely, efficient, and safe completion of customer work orders.
- Complete timely and accurate reporting of all hours worked in the payroll system.
- As assigned, perform minor vehicle inspection and maintenance activities for MOTP vehicles.
- Perform all duties in a professional and respectful manner, managing conflict in accordance with training, policies and procedures.
- Carries out duties in compliance with all federal and state regulations and guidelines.
- Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements.
- Complies with all company and site policies and procedures.
- Remains current in profession and industry trends.
- Makes a positive contribution as demonstrated by: making suggestions for improvement and learning new skills, procedures and processes.
- Is available for other duties as required.
- Is available for overtime as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- None
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a valid Colorado driver's license with at least five years of driving experience.
- Have no history of license suspension or revocation within the previous five years.
- Upon hire, employee must provide Proof of Insurability.
- Must have 1-2 years of experience operating a vehicle with a snowplow and salt deployment.
- Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug test and background check.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and standard operating procedure manuals.
REASONING ABILITY
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES OR QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience driving safely in snow and ice road conditions.
- Demonstrated experience accurately executing customer work orders safely and efficiently.
- Familiar with performing routine vehicle inspection.
- Familiar with road condition identification.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining speed of work and attention to detail without loss to production.
- Ability to work with others in a team environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, and talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
