Job Description
This role focuses on overseeing machining quality within production value streams by performing detailed inspections, supporting problem solving, and ensuring part and process consistency. You will work hands-on with machining operations, using precision measuring tools and reviewing quality and CMM reports to maintain high standards of built-in quality.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the quality of parts produced within machining value streams to ensure they meet specifications and standards.
- Perform routine and detailed quality checks on machined components using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Manage and maintain part and process consistency by monitoring production output and addressing variations in real time.
- Inspect and measure machining parts accurately, documenting findings and communicating results to relevant team members.
- Review quality reports and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) reports to verify dimensional accuracy and identify trends or issues.
- Support root cause analysis activities to identify the source of quality problems and contribute to effective corrective actions.
- Apply built-in quality (BIQ) principles and pre-delivery inspection (PDI) practices to prevent defects and ensure reliable output.
- Read and interpret blueprints to confirm that machined parts align with engineering requirements.
- Use Microsoft Office tools to record data, create reports, and communicate quality findings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by applying LEAN and 5S methodologies to maintain an organized and efficient work area.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve quality issues and improve overall process performance.
- Follow established quality control procedures and safety guidelines while operating or working around production machinery.
Essential Skills
- At least 3+ years of manufacturing experience working with production machinery, including but not limited to CNC or similar equipment.
- Hands-on experience in quality control within a production or machining environment.
- Proficiency with quality measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting quality reports and CMM reports.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis methods to investigate and resolve quality issues.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for data entry, reporting, and communication.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when inspecting and measuring parts.
- Ability to work effectively on a fixed shift schedule and meet production and quality expectations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
- Practical experience applying 5S to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
- Exposure to built-in quality (BIQ) concepts and pre-delivery inspection (PDI) processes.
- Background in machine operation within a production environment.
- Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with established quality standards.

Work Environment
This position operates on a 1st shift schedule from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday, in a climate-controlled, state-of-the-art production facility. You will work around machining and inspection equipment, including precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM systems. The environment emphasizes LEAN and 5S practices, promoting cleanliness, organization, and efficiency throughout the production area. The facility provides nice uniforms and maintains a professional yet people-focused atmosphere, with amenities such as on-site food trucks to support employees during their shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winston-Salem, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
