A rewarding opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse skilled in step-down care to provide specialized nursing services in a cardiac medical unit. This contract position offers the chance to work in a dynamic hospital setting focused on advanced cardiac and medical-surgical telemetry care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care on a 20-bed cardiac step-down unit, managing patients with complex cardiac conditions, stroke overflow, and medical-surgical telemetry needs.
- Utilize advanced nursing skills to perform and monitor procedures such as thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomy care, pacemaker management, and cardiac catheterization follow-up.
- Adhere to unit staffing model practices, collaborating within 4-RN teams supported by licensed nursing assistants and unit clerks.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using an electronic health record system.
- Participate in bedside shift rounds and handoffs to enhance patient experience and safety.
- Ensure compliance with certifications and protocols, including advanced cardiac life support and stroke center regulations.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN license with step-down and telemetry proficiency.
- Certification in Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience in managing cardiac patients with devices and advanced procedures.
- Ability to navigate and document within modern hospital technology systems.
- Strong clinical judgment and effective collaboration skills.

Schedule:
- Three 12-hour shifts per week.
