Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Sales – Assist patients in choosing frames and lenses based on prescription needs, lifestyle, facial measurements, and preferences. – Educate patients on lens options and treatments. – Ensure patients understand pricing, warranties, and insurance coverage. – Provide excellent customer service.
Technical Duties – Interpret eyeglass prescriptions accurately. – Take precise measurements (PD, seg height, OC height). – Fit, adjust, and repair eyeglasses. – Verify lenses using a lensometer. – Maintain knowledge of new lens technologies.
Ordering & Inventory – Submit accurate frame and lens orders. – Track lab orders and inspect completed jobs. – Maintain frame inventory. – Follow clinic policies for ordering and returns. Administrative & Compliance – Document encounters and orders accurately. – Maintain HIPAA compliance. – Keep optical area clean and organized. – Assist with resolving eyewear concerns.
Qualifications – High school diploma or equivalent required. – ABO Certification not necessary – Optical or retail experience preferred. – Strong communication and customer service skills. – Ability to perform precise measurements.
Physical Requirements – Ability to stand for extended periods. – Fine motor skills for frame adjustments. – Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Work Environment – Clinical and retail optical setting. – Direct interaction with patients and staff.
