Position Overview
The MICU Registered Nurse provides high-acuity, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced life-support interventions. This role collaborates with a multidisciplinary critical care team to manage complex medical conditions and deliver patient-centered care in a fast-paced ICU environment.
Scheduling & Work Requirements

Night shift: 3x12 hours (1900–0730)

Weekend requirement: Every other weekend

First-time travelers accepted

Local candidates not accepted (must reside outside a 75-mile radius)
Required Licensure & Certifications
-
Active New York State RN license required (NY is not a compact state)

BLS (ACLS preferred)
Required Experience & Skills
-
Recent MICU or critical care experience
-
Proficiency with high-acuity ICU patients including:
-
Sepsis and ARDS
-
Renal failure and CRRT
-
Heart failure and pre-VAD workups
-
Alcohol withdrawal and overdose
-
Multi-organ failure
-
Post–cardiac arrest care and targeted temperature management
-
Respiratory failure and shock states
-

Experience with advanced ICU therapies and devices:
-
CRRT
-
EKOS
-
IABP
-
ECMO
-
Impella
-
-
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills

16-bed Medical ICU

Nurse-to-patient ratios:

Typically 1:2
-
Occasional 1:1 based on patient acuity

Epic EMR experience required
