Seeking a highly motivated and energetic Canteen Manager to serve the veteran community. The VFW Canteen Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Post's Canteen (Bar and Kitchen), ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for members and guests. Key responsibilities include staff supervision, inventory management, event coordination, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The manager is accountable to the House Committee for the Canteen's overall performance.
Detailed Responsibilities:
• Staff Management: Hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising bartenders, cooks, waitstaff, and other Canteen personnel.
• Operational Oversight: Ensuring smooth daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cleaning, and maintenance.
• Inventory Management: Tracking stock levels, ordering supplies, and managing inventory to minimize waste and ensure adequate stock.
• Event Coordination: Planning and executing Canteen events, such as parties, fundraisers, and special occasions.
• Compliance: Enforcing rules, regulations, and health & safety standards, including alcohol and food service regulations.
• Financial Management: Working with the Post Quartermaster to ensure proper management of cash flow, receipt processing, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Utilization and familiarity with POS system (Touch Bistro).
• Customer Service: Addressing customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests to maintain a positive experience for members and guests.
• Reporting: Providing regular updates to the House Committee on Canteen operations and financial performance.
• Maintenance: Ensuring the Canteen is clean, well-maintained, and adheres to all safety and sanitation standards.
• Communication: Maintaining clear communication with the House Committee, Post Commander, and other relevant parties.
Experience: Two (2) to five (5) years of restaurant experience highly desired. Restaurant experience is defined as including a kitchen and bar. Management experience highly encouraged.
Education: High school or equivalent required.
Pay: To be determined based on experience.
Amount of Time Expected to Work: The Canteen is open from 4 – 9 pm daily. Thirty-eight (38) hours per week is the maximum amount of hours to be accrued for compensation.
