Position OverviewThe Patient Services Representative (PSR) serves as the face of the organization for patients seeking routine care or critical health insights. This role is responsible for performing safe, accurate venipuncture and specimen processing while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, confidentiality, and professionalism in a fast-paced clinical environment.Duties & Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures
- Explain procedures clearly and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence for patients
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing accurately and safely
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm correct labeling
- Maintain required records and documentation with strict attention to accuracy and confidentiality
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
- Maintain a safe and professional work environment
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence and data accuracy
- Promote a positive organizational image with patients, clients, coworkers, and the public
Required Experience
- 2–3 years of phlebotomy experience required
- Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections
- Ability to provide error-free work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Required Skills
- Strong attention to accuracy, safety, and patient confidentiality
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently
- Superior customer service and communication skills
- Sound judgment and ability to make decisions based on established procedures
- Dependability, punctuality, and accountability
Additional Requirements
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (rideshare/bus not considered reliable transportation)
- Flexibility to work multiple locations with minimal notice
- Availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required
- Must be on time and remain for the entire scheduled shift; excessive absenteeism/tardiness may result in termination
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
