Summary: The Technical Services Supervisor is responsible for the optimum use of environmental factors and chemical products to produce the highest quality plants in the safest manner and at the lowest cost.

This is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class). Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Supervises the spray team to ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local laws, and regulations. • Supervises the spray team to ensure all applications are made using the correct application method and technique. • Work with the growers and production managers to continuously improve crop quality and crop profitability. • Continuously monitor water quality in the nursery. • Create all application work orders (tickets). • Provide reports on the cost of applications by area. • Provide insight on differences in chemical cost by area and recommend improvements to reduce costs. • Maintain all applicable compliance agreements and permits. Ensure that all protocols required under these agreements are being followed. • Ensure that all pesticide related training is completed and documented for all employees. • Monitor efficacy of the scouting process and recommend changes or improvements as needed. • Manage the purchase, usage, and tracking of all chemicals, fertilizers, and safety equipment. • Ensure that all MSDS books are current and up to date. • Walk crops with growers and production managers to identify critical cultural practices that need to be acted on, as well as any cultural changes that are warranted. • Provide training for the spray team to ensure continuous improvement to their skill set. • Develop training for all production employees, working with nursery operations and production managers to identify training needs and core requirements. • Identify continuous improvement opportunities, working with the appropriate groups to implement the improvements. • Manage any site-specific chemical trials. • Ensure that all sites remain clean and weed free. • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management. Education and/or Experience 4 – 5 years of nursery growing work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Licenses or certification: Private Chemical Applicators License.
