Job Description

Hillcrest Children & Family Center is seeking a skilled, community-minded Certified Addiction Counselor II (CAC II) to join our mission in Washington, DC.

At Hillcrest, we don’t just provide treatment. We build paths to empowerment. We are a premier non-profit dedicated to breaking down systemic barriers and delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. As a CAC II, you will be a senior voice in our clinical efforts, providing expert counseling and advocacy for individuals and families navigating the complexities of substance use disorders.

This is more than an office job. While primarily clinic-based, you are a mobile force for good, meeting clients where they are whether that’s in the home, at school, or within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized individual counseling and lead high-impact treatment groups for clients dealing with addiction and co-occurring mental health concerns.
  • Step outside the clinic to provide essential home, school, or community-based visits, ensuring care is accessible to all.
  • Partner with the court system, DYRS, and CFSA to champion your clients' needs and secure life-changing resources.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and design 90-day personalized treatment plans, adjusting interventions to ensure measurable progress.
  • Maintain a consistent flow of care with a target of 18–24 billable hours per week, offering the flexibility of evening or weekend sessions to meet client needs.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation within our EMR systems and stay at the cutting edge of addiction science through continuous professional development.

Educational Requirements:

  • Must hold and maintain a valid CAC II certification in the District of Columbia.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of dedicated experience in addiction counseling.
  • The ability to engage effectively with adolescent populations and a willingness to provide services in diverse settings.
  • Written and verbal skills. Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply!
  • Experience with Netsmart, Credible, or other EMR platforms is a strong asset.
  • A problem-solver who can manage a dynamic workflow and make sound, timely clinical decisions.

Why Hillcrest?

We invest in the people who power our community's recovery. Join a supportive environment where high standards meet heartfelt compassion.

  • Affordable Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance.
  • 401K Retirement Plan and Life Insurance.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO), Sick Leave, and Paid Company Holidays.
  • Opportunities for leadership training and professional development.
  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) to support your professional and personal well-being.

If you are a CAC II professional ready to deliver high-quality, compassionate care, we want to hear from you.
