Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Special Education teaching position is available for grades 6-12 in a K-12 school located in Billings, MT. This contract-to-hire role offers a Monday through Friday schedule from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., following the school calendar. The caseload typically ranges from 8-12 students, with some classes as small as 4-5 students, reflecting the diverse course offerings including Vocational Agriculture, Woodworking, PE, Art, Music, Business Education, Technology, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, and English.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Building positive relationships with students, particularly those facing mental health challenges
- Collaborating with staff and families to support student growth and success
- Managing a caseload effectively within a variety of educational courses
Qualifications and requirements:
- Certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students who have mental health struggles
- Willingness to obtain training and certification in Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) through the schools training department. This program emphasizes de-escalation techniques and safe physical interventions when necessary to ensure safety for students and staff
