What You’ll Do:
As a Medical Technologist in the Blood Bank, you will:
-
Perform and record quality control procedures to ensure accurate results
-
Process and analyze blood bank specimens, ensuring proper collection and transport
-
Work with multiple blood bank automation analyzers and assist with advanced immunohematology testing
-
Support transfusion medicine by interpreting and troubleshooting serologic findings
-
Collaborate with the Immunohematology Reference Lab (IRL) on complex antibody identification cases
-
Maintain inventory of blood bank reagents, perform equipment maintenance, and adhere to lab safety protocols
-
Train and mentor Medical Technology students, Residents, and Fellows
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
-
MT, MLS, or Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Biological Sciences
-
Eligibility for certification by BOC (Board of Certification)
-
Commitment to continuing education and UMHS compliance policies
Preferred Qualifications:
-
ASCP certification (highly desirable)
-
Experience in transfusion medicine, blood banking, or immunohematology
-
Familiarity with blood bank automation analyzers and complex serologic testing
-
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
