URM Stores, Inc. is looking for an Accounting/Finance Intern. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the accounting field while working alongside experienced professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in accounting/financial services and a desire to learn about various accounting practices, including budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation processes.

This internship will be a 3 to 6-month program that could lead to a permanent position, but this is not guaranteed.

Pay & Schedule:

This is a paid internship ($16.66/hour) and perfect for a current student studying Accounting, Finance, or related field.

We can be flexible around your school schedule as long as you can be available anytime between the following window: Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.


Education:

  • Must be a recent graduate or actively working towards a Bachelors or Masters in accounting, finance or similar field of study.
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting/financial courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles.

Desired skills & Experience:

  • Data Entry Accuracy: Strong attention to detail and familiarity with manual and automated data entry tools to minimize errors during categorization.
  • Coding and Classification: Understanding of chart of accounts and transaction coding to properly assign categories for reporting purposes.
  • Microsoft Excel: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including ability to use formular, pivot tables, and data analysis tools for organizing and reviewing transaction data.
  • Accounting methods: Familiarity of difference accounting methods (cash basis, modified accrual and full accrual accounting.) Have a high-level understanding of how transaction timing impacts this and how transactions should be recorded.

What you will be doing:

  • Process accounts payable transactions
  • Process accounts receivable transactions
  • Perform various general ledger and bank reconciliation
  • Perform various accounting responsibilities
  • Review and understand the flow of transactions through the general ledger
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during employment
  • Utilize both open-source and commercial toolsets to conduct internal penetration testing and scanning.
