Job Description

The Measurement & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of measurement and control systems used in industrial production and pipeline environments. This role supports the reliability and accuracy of measurement equipment, instrumentation, and supervisory control systems used to monitor and optimize facility operations.

The technician works closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure instrumentation systems and SCADA platforms function properly and comply with operational and regulatory standards. The position may involve rotational work schedules and field-based operations in production, midstream, or facility environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot measurement and instrumentation equipment used in industrial and pipeline operations.
  • Monitor and support SCADA systems to ensure accurate data acquisition and reliable control system performance.
  • Perform routine inspections and testing of instrumentation devices, sensors, transmitters, meters, and control equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues affecting measurement accuracy, communication systems, or instrument performance.
  • Calibrate measurement equipment to ensure compliance with operational and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of calibration activities, maintenance work, and system performance.
  • Support system integration between field instrumentation and SCADA or control system platforms.
  • Assist with equipment commissioning, system upgrades, and new instrumentation installations.
  • Coordinate with operations and engineering teams to identify and resolve equipment or process issues.
  • Review instrument readings and system data to identify performance trends or anomalies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot communication networks connecting instrumentation devices and control systems.
  • Follow established safety procedures and environmental regulations when performing field work.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis to improve operational reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance measurement accuracy and system performance.

Skills and QualificationsEducation & Experience

  • Technical degree or certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of experience working with measurement and instrumentation systems in industrial operations.
  • Experience in pipeline, midstream, production, or industrial facility environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of measurement devices, transmitters, flow meters, pressure instruments, and control systems.
  • Experience working with SCADA systems and remote monitoring platforms.
  • Ability to install, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation and measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity with control systems, communication protocols, and data acquisition systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Proficiency with computers and digital maintenance systems for reporting and documentation.

Professional Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when working with measurement systems.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance with operational standards.

Additional Considerations

  • Military technical experience in instrumentation, electrical systems, or control systems is considered a plus.
