Position Summary

We are looking to hire a licensed veterinary technician with a desire to join a close-knit growing organization that specializes in small animal Veterinary Neurology. The applicant will be expected to provide compassionate patient care, positive client experiences, and is expected to be a good team player.

Wisconsin Veterinary Neurology and Surgical Center offers in-house high field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), neurological surgical procedures, and other specialized diagnostic/treatment modalities. Veterinary Technician Responsibilities:

  • Triaging patients, taking vitals, and acquiring patient histories.
  • Assisting with diagnostic procedures, which includes but is not limited to MRI, CSF taps, radiographic studies, and others.
  • Client communication, which includes discussing treatment plans, estimates/payment options, phone calls, and discharges.
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV catheter placement
  • Induction/monitoring general anesthesia/sedation
  • Operation of a mechanical ventilator
  • Operating autoclave and Sterlink (cold) sterilizer.
  • Processing specimens in the in-house laboratory and submitting specimens to outside laboratories.
  • Calculating medication dosages and providing dosage instructions for clients.
  • Keeping accurate patient records.
  • Assisting with neurologic surgical procedures.
  • Veterinary technicians are expected to help/assist with carrying of patients. Generally, this means an ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Veterinary Technician Requirements:

  • Must have a valid CVT license in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Outstanding people skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and safely handle large and/or difficult patients

Hours and Proposed Schedule

· 35-40 hours/week Monday through Friday· Willing to work overtime/stay past scheduled shift based on needs of the hospital · Four 10hr shifts/wk, or five 8 hr shifts/wk· 1-2 holiday on/call shifts per year (additional compensation is provided for these holiday shifts)· Weekend coverage as needed· Current Daytime Shifts: -7am-5pm -9am-7pm -11am-9pm -Subject to change
