""Hospital Total Bed Count: 47 Unit Bed Count: 10 Staffing on Unit: Days: 3 RNs, 1 CN, 1 CP Nights: 3 RNs, 1 CN, 1 CP Weekends: 3 RNs, 1 CN, 1 CP
Call Required? Yes, we sometimes have special procedures that require a 1:1 ratio which impacts our staffing needs. Typically, Open heart cases don’t come out until the afternoon. Also, we have TAVR cases that are not scheduled until later in the schedule time frame.
Floating to other units Required? When we are over staffed, we will float nurses and care partners to AHBD ICU, AHSB PCU, and AHSB ED.
Weekend Coverage Required? Our critical care unit operates 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
Medication System: Pyxis
EMR System: Cerner (Epic to go live in 2026)
IV Teams: Respiratory typically inserts midlines, picc lines, and arterial lines during 0700-1930
Lift Teams: No lift team Pharmacy Hours: 0700-1700 Phlebotomy available on unit? 0300-1100
Transport Team: No transport team Intensivist: On call 24 hours via Tiger Text and Phone (Rounding in hospital hours vary, but typically 0800-1100) Hospitalist: 0700-1900 for on-site hospitalists. Nocturnist via Tiger Text and Phone call from 1900-0700
Special Equipment Used on This Unit: Teleflex Arrow Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps/Impella/Tablo PIRRT/Stryker AirTap/Stryker cooling system/Ultrasound/EKG 12 lead/Edwards Hemosphere for Hemodynamic Monitoring/Nihon Kohden bedside and transfer monitors/Level 1 rapid transfuser/Re-sternotomy cart/EVD drains Special Procedures Performed on This Unit: Re-sternotomy for emergent re-access s/p Open Heart.
Moderate sedation procedures, TEE, possibly Bronchoscopy Scrubs: Provided two uniforms per year. Navy Blue for RNs/Royal Blue for CNAs Our staffing needs vary due to quick increases and decreases in the census. ""

Job Summary:
Delivers coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff, and coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
Acute care facility experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy:
Required Facility Specific License/Certifications: AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS: Required
AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS: Required

Provides learning opportunities for patients/family members and team members.
Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment team.
in discharge planning in order to provide continuity of care.
Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
