Reports to: People + Culture Manager

Location: Philadelphia, PA OR Madison, WI

Job Type: Full-time, Exempt

Schedule: 32 hours/4 days per week, Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm

Founded in 2014, Bicycle Transit Systems (BTS) is a woman-owned business with a mission to operate bike share systems that create connections in our communities and protect our planet. We operate and manage a portfolio of bike share systems across the United States, as well as a nation-wide customer service call center. Bike Transit employees provide safe, seamless, reliable, and memorable customer experiences, and create mutually-rewarding relationships with our riders, suppliers, and clients. We are currently looking for a talented Recruitment Specialist to join our team!

The Recruitment Specialist is responsible for the full-cycle recruitment for all hourly, front-line positions and exempt management and technical roles at Bicycle Transit Systems. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator who can move seamlessly between different talent pools, ensuring we attract and retain high-quality team members at every level of the business. This role will be a Diversity- Equity- Inclusion- Justice (DEIJ) advocate, identifying diverse sourcing tools and championing a "Diverse Slate" process to ensure our workforce reflects a broad range of backgrounds and perspectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from job posting/sourcing to orientation, ensuring consistent communication with hiring managers and candidates
  • Implement effective recruitment strategies for all positions at Bicycle Transit Systems, to include front-line operations positions, managerial positions and technical roles.
  • Serve as the face and voice of Bicycle Transit Systems as the first point of contact for candidates.
  • Develop recruitment blueprints for seasonal cycles, ensuring a high-quality, diverse workforce is ready for operational peaks.
  • Leverage local community partnerships to ensure seasonal hiring reflects the diversity of the local area.
  • Partner with Hiring Managers to align hiring needs with market availability while maintaining a high bar for both skill and cultural addition.
  • Proactively identify and implement new recruiting tools, job boards, and platforms specifically designed to reach diverse and underrepresented talent pools.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements, team dynamics and business priorities
  • Champion and enforce the "Diverse Slate" process, ensuring hiring managers are presented with a broad range of backgrounds before moving to final interview stages.
  • Audit job descriptions for inclusive language and facilitate bias/recruitment training with hiring teams.
  • Develop relationships with diversity-focused professional organizations, and community groups to broaden the seasonal and tech pipelines.
  • Monitor and report on recruitment funnel diversity, identifying areas where underrepresented candidates may be dropping off.
  • Ensure an equitable and transparent experience for all candidates, from high-touch technical leads to rapid-response seasonal hires.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources OR related field and/or equivalent experience.  
  • 3-5 years of recruiting experience, covering both non-exempt and exempt positions.
  • High proficiency in Excel, Word, Microsoft 360 Suite, and ability to learn new software.  
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now HRIS software preferred.  
  • Ability to speak fluently about technical roles and the specific diversity challenges within the tech industry.
  • Proven track record of using diverse sourcing tools and successfully implementing "diverse slate" or similar equitable hiring frameworks.
  • Knowledge of sourcing techniques, applicant tracking systems, and recruitment best practices.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, methods, equipment and able to utilize computer technology.  
  • Organized thinker, with the ability to self-direct and meet deadlines. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.  
  • Able to perform work in a fast-paced team environment.  
  • Self-starter who rises to the challenge.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills to "champion" the diversity process even when hiring managers are facing tight seasonal deadlines.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills while adapting to changes in the work environment.  
  • Dependability and timeliness are a must.  
  • Maintains confidentiality and follows directions as well as exercises independent judgement and action.  
  • Excitement and interest in bike sharing a plus.  
  • Must have a positive and friendly attitude.  
  • Sense of humor and a drive to help people a must!   

Physical Requirements and Special Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • This is a full-time position where you will be expected to work 32 hours per week (4 days per week, 8 hours per day). Some hours outside of this, including nights and weekends, may be required. 
  • This can be hybrid role (3 days in the office, one day remotely) if desired. 
  • Any travel would be primarily local during the business day.  
  • This job operates in a professional office located in a warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.  
  • Must be able to lift up to 20lbs.  
  • This role requires the ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand, understand the speech of another person, see details of objects that are less than a few feet away, stand or sit for several hours straight at a time, and bend or stoop as necessary.
