Reporting to the VP & Chief Actuary as an individual contributor, the Actuarial Analyst is responsible for supporting a variety of key actuarial processes that include product and premium rate implementation, periodic actuarial valuations, product filings with State Departments of Insurance, product pricing, and experience studies.
The work product of the Actuarial Analyst enables the Company to sell products that are not only in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, but provide accurate financial reporting and performance evaluation of those products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and testing of actuarial models that will be used for valuation of Life and Accident & Health products under GAAP LDTI.
- Perform testing to ensure the new administration system, EIS, returns complete and accurate data used in actuarial processes.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end actuarial valuations under GAAP, statutory, and tax valuation bases.
- Develop, prepare, and analyze experience studies.
- Assist in the development of the multi-year business plan.
- Assist with the preparation of product filings and responses to objections thereto.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the VP & Chief Actuary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher degree, preferably in a scientific discipline like Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or an engineering specialty, or an equivalent combination of work experience and education that demonstrates an ability to learn quickly.
- Working knowledge of arithmetic and data-centric Microsoft Excel functions like Index, Match, Xlookup, Sumif, Sumifs, array formulas, and Pivot Tables.
- Experience with programming in SQL and SAS is a plus.
