We are currently seeking an experienced Assembler to join our team as a Coil Winder. In this role, you will be responsible for winding coils used in electrical equipment and instruments, as well as electronic components. You will operate coil-winding machines and use hand tools to wind coils according to wiring diagrams, sample coils, or work orders. Your expertise will ensure the coils are wound evenly and uniformly while performing various tasks to reinforce and seal the coils.
Responsibilities
- Review wiring diagrams, work orders, or sample coils to determine the type and size of wire and coil specifications.
- Select and fasten the coil-forming device onto machine arbor, mandrel, or spindle.
- Thread the end of the wire through tension devices, guides, and spreaders, and attach the lead to the coil core.
- Adjust tension on the wire and set the counter for the specified number of turns.
- Start the machine and manually feed the wire over the coil core for even and uniform winding.
- Observe the counter and stop the machine at the specified number of coils.
- Wrap insulation between layers and around the wound coil, or insert plastic blocks for cooling ducts.
- Cut wire to form leads using wire or bolt cutters.
- Shape end windings or remove coil from fixtures using a hammer or mallet.
- Wind asbestos, cotton, glass mica, paper, or tape around the coil, and apply varnish, epoxy, or wax to reinforce and seal the coil.
- Strip insulation from the end of lead wires, thread lead wires through insulating sleeves, and solder lead wires to terminals.
- Test coils for winding continuity using a test lamp.
Essential Skills
- 1+ years of experience in Manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and work orders
- Proficiency in using coil-winding machines and hand tools
- Attention to detail and ability to ensure uniform winding of coils
- Knowledge of insulation materials and techniques for reinforcing and sealing coils
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ years of Assembly in Manufacturing experience
- 6+ months of hand tools usage including hammers, Circlip Pliers, pullers, etc.
- ITAR compliant

Work Environment
The dress code is casual but needs Steel Toes. The hours are Monday to Thursday from 6am to 3:30pm and Friday from 6am to 10am.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lino Lakes, Minnesota.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
