Overview
Now Hiring: Staff Accountant
Location: Hunterdon County, NJ
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (In Office)
Compensation: Competitive base salary of $68,000–$80,000 depending on experience, plus bonus potential

About the Role
Our company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to oversee and manage payroll and commission processes for W-2 employees and consultants. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate, timely payroll while also supporting broader accounting and finance functions across domestic and international operations. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and comfortable handling confidential information while working cross-functionally with HR, Finance, external vendors and customers, and international partners.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and manage payroll and commission processing for W-2 employees and consultants
• Coordinate with payroll service providers to ensure timely, accurate payroll processing
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage, hour, overtime, and tax laws
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries
• Facilitate communication with 401(k) providers
• Manage workers’ compensation and insurance audits
• Assist with travel and expense reporting through travel software
• Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile payroll and balance sheet accounts to the general ledger
• Create and post journal entries
• Assist with monthly close, financial reporting, and account analysis
• Support year-end activities, including responding to outside auditor requests
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and actual vs. budget variance analysis
• Work with international accounting firms on VAT preparation and reconciliation
Additional Responsibilities
• Assist Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and other Finance team functions as needed
• Answer phones and retrieve mail as necessary
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment in handling confidential financial information
• Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
• 2-3 years of experience in the accounting industry.
• Experience with payroll systems
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• AP automation experience a plus
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Ability to handle highly confidential information
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (e.g., copy paper)
• Ability to travel as needed
• Ability to run errands using a vehicle when required (bank, post office, etc.)
