SUMMARY

Arcticom LLC, a company within the BSNC family is currently seeking a qualified Technical Writer II for a Foreign Military Sales Contract with work in Reston VA and Morocco. This role supports engineering, operations, and program teams by translating complex technical information into accessible documentation for internal and external audiences. The Technical Writer II collaborates closely with subject matter experts to ensure content aligns with organizational standards, compliance requirements, and end-user needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain technical manuals, user guides, SOPs, training materials, and system documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, OEM developers, and Government program managers to gather source information and validate content.
  • Edit and format documents for clarity, consistency, and compliance with style guides and regulatory standards.
  • Manage version control and documentation repositories to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
  • Support training programs, and product lifecycle documentation.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications

· Education: Associate’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Engineering, or a related field.

· Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a government, defense, engineering, or manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

· Strong grasp of technical writing standards, style guides, and documentation best practices.

· Skilled in organizing complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly formats.

· Ability to Work independently and collaboratively to meet publication deadlines.

· Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with engineers, developers, and leadership.

Preferred

· Familiarity with technical publications, manuals, proposals, and SOPs.

· Competent in interviewing subject matter experts to gather and verify technical content.

· Ability to Adapt writing style and format to suit different publication types and audiences.

Professional demeanor with the ability to present and explain documentation to stakeholders.

· This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Office Setting: Regular use of computers, teleconferencing systems, and standard office equipment. Requires prolonged periods of sitting, reviewing technical documentation, and participating in planning sessions.

· Field Environments (Morocco): May involve exposure to outdoor conditions, extended standing or walking, and interaction with deployed systems and equipment. Requires physical mobility to access command centers, and operational sites.

· Travel Requirements: Domestic and international travel are expected. Must be able to adapt to varying climates, time zones, and operational tempos.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

· This position does not supervise any employees

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
