Full-Time Ophthalmic Technician Job Posting Tallahassee, Florida


Overview: Southern Vitreoretinal Associates (SVA) is looking for a Medical Assistant/Technician to join our Tallahassee, Florida location. SVA is an Ophthalmology practice that specializes in retina care. We have six offices and six physicians. This is a great opportunity to work in a team environment and work one-on-one with patients in a fast-paced clinical setting. Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is preferred but not required. Experience doing refractions with phoropter is a plus.

Key Duties:


  • Effectively communicate with patients and physicians
  • Obtain medical History, visual acuity, ocular pressure, and EOM. Progression to photography, ocular procedure assisting and medical scribing.
  • Updating patient charts with accuracy
  • Maintain knowledge of operations required for clinical equipment and drugs.


Key Qualifications:

  • Ophthalmic Technician experience is preferred.
  • Experience doing refractions with phoropter is a plus!
  • We are willing to train those who are willing to learn.

Working Environment:


  • Must be able to lift 15- 20 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and working on computers.
  • Scrubs required for uniform
  • Travel to satellite offices. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. We Pay for travel time and mileage.
  • Work hours are Monday through Friday. 10-hour workdays, 4 days a week. Typically, 7:20am – 5:00-6:00pm
