Located in Billings, MT, this opportunity offers a full-time Special Education teaching position for grades 6-12 within a dynamic K-12 school setting. The role is contract-to-hire, spanning the academic year with consistent hours from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, following an established school calendar.
Responsibilities include developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students unique needs, fostering positive relationships, and supporting learners facing mental health challenges. The caseload typically ranges from 8 to 12 students, with some classes as small as 4-5 students, reflecting the variety of course offerings such as Vocational Agriculture, Woodworking, Physical Education, Art, Music, Business Education, Technology, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Special Education, and English.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education certification
- Experience with IEP development and individualized instruction
- Skills in building rapport and supporting students with mental health considerations
- Willingness to obtain certification through the schools Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) training program, emphasizing de-escalation techniques and safe physical interventions when necessary
