Automation Engineer | Caledonia, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $127,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement industrial automation solutions, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
Program and configure industrial robots, vision systems, and other automated equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system failures to minimize production downtime.
Optimize existing manufacturing processes through automation enhancements for improved efficiency and quality.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate new technologies and processes.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for automation systems and procedures.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies in all automation projects.

Recommended Qualifications

Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA development.
Demonstrated experience with industrial robotics integration and programming.
Strong understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and sensor technologies.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex automated manufacturing processes.
Solid knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet).

Bonus Qualifications

Experience with industrial robotics programming (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots).
Proficiency in vision system integration and programming (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
Knowledge of data acquisition, analysis, and MES/ERP integration (e.g., SQL, Python, Ignition).
Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 62061) and safety PLC programming.
Experience with CAD software for electrical panel design or machine layout (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks).
