Title: SP - Validation Engineer, Controller Integration

Location: Foster City, CA

Onsite (Mon-Fri, 30 + hours)

Contract Duration: 6 - 12 months, with likely extension

Pay Rate: $84.94 per hour (w2)



We are helping our client an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Validation Engineer, Controller Integration to support the validation, integration, and performance verification of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) across autonomous vehicle platforms.


In this role, you’ll validate incoming firmware and hardware updates, support vehicle controller integration activities, and help ensure the reliability and performance of critical vehicle systems. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with systems, firmware, manufacturing, and vehicle engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, develop test strategies, and support the successful deployment of autonomous vehicle technologies.


The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, collaborative, and experienced working with complex vehicle controllers, embedded systems, and electrical diagnostics.


As a Validation Engineer, Controller Integration, you'll:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop validation strategies for ECU hardware and firmware integration.

Develop and execute test plans supporting controller integration, firmware validation, and vehicle-level system verification activities.

Validate bootloader, power management, network communication, and controller functionality requirements.

Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and system-level issues within manufacturing and operational fleet environments.

Partner with Vehicle Systems Engineering teams to investigate design issues and develop long-term corrective solutions.

Analyze logs, telemetry, and source code to support debugging and root cause analysis activities.

Support system bring-up, controller integration, and vehicle-level validation testing.

Develop prototype test benches, validation tooling, and early-stage testing solutions for new technologies.

Collaborate closely with engineering teams to stay aligned on evolving hardware and software changes.

Travel internationally on a limited basis as needed.


IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

Qualifications: BS or higher in Electrical/Electronics/Systems/Mechanical Engineering or a related field 3-5 years of experience in controller validation/integration Proficiency in diagnosing complex controlled systems, including CAN, LIN, or Ethernet network issues Skilled in MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar tools. Experience with data acquisition equipment, voltage power supply, oscilloscope and sensors Familiarity with Jira tools (Structure, Dashboard) Solid electronics fundamentals, comfortable working with ECUs and performing basic electrical debugging tasks Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical issues clearly


DAILY TASKS

As a Validation Engineer within our Vehicle Development organization, you will play a crucial role in integrating and testing our Electronic Control Units (ECUs). In your role as a Validation Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the integrity and performance of components and subsystems through rigorous validation of incoming firmware and hardware updates for our Electronic Control Units (ECUs). You will play a crucial role in a dynamic team dedicated to evolving and refining the robot’s features, driving them towards peak production efficiency. Your involvement will extend to collaborating with diverse teams across the organization, upholding a standard of excellence and accountability in meeting stringent requirements. Additionally, as a recognized validation expert, you will oversee a select group of vehicle controllers. This specialized focus empowers you to delve deeply into technical challenges, contributing significantly to the advancement and delivery of our autonomous robot.


REQUIRED SKILLS
