A challenging opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse specialized in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) care. The role offers a contract position based in Quincy, MA, providing an impactful setting within a Level III Trauma Center ICU.

Location:Based in Quincy, MA, this role is situated near major urban and suburban amenities, offering access to cultural, recreational, and dining options. The area combines coastal charm with city conveniences, making it a desirable living and working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care in a 20-bed MICU, managing patients with complex medical and surgical conditions including respiratory failure, sepsis, cardiac arrest, and more.
  • Provide critical care in a fast-paced Level III Trauma Center ICU with 24/7 medical team support.
  • Float to medical/surgical units as needed, caring for 4 to 5 patients and ensuring seamless patient transitions.
  • Monitor patients using telemetry and interpret tele strips accurately.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including attendings and residents to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation using EPIC electronic medical records.
  • Adhere to staffing ratios such as 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity patients in ICU and up to 1:4 or 1:5 when floating to other units.
  • Participate in rotating day shifts with stable night shifts that do not rotate.

Qualifications:

  • Active Massachusetts RN License.
  • Minimum of 2 years continuous work experience in Adult ICU, preferably MICU.
  • Competency in telemetry and ability to read tele strips.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Ability to float between ICU and medical/surgical units comfortably.
  • Strong clinical and critical thinking skills in a high-acuity environment.
