Pride Health is hiring a Medical Coder to support our client’s medical facility based in Hartford, Connecticut. This contract opportunity is a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Responsibilities:

Review inpatient clinical documentation and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes

Determine appropriate DRGs for compliance and reimbursement

Use CAC/encoder software, coding manuals, UHDDS standards, and official guidelines

Code complex cases including:

  • Interventional Radiology & Cardiology
  • Cardiovascular Surgeries
  • Major Transplants
  • Neurovascular Surgeries
  • Spinal Fusions
  • Level 1 Trauma

Ensure data quality for internal/external reporting, research, and regulatory use

Resolve edits and complete reviews daily

Collaborate with CDS, Quality Management, Billing, and Registration

Seek clarification from physicians for ambiguous or missing documentation

Mentor and support junior coders on complex cases

Meet productivity standards and KPIs

Qualifications:

✔ Associate's Degree or equivalent experience

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) – required and must be maintained

✔ Minimum 2–3 years progressive inpatient coding experience

✔ Expertise in coding high-dollar, high-complexity inpatient accounts

✔ Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding

✔ Proficiency in using encoders, CAC software, and medical record analysis

Additional Information:

Location: Hartford, Connecticut (Remote)

Job Type: Contract to Hire

Schedule: 5x8 Day - 8:00 am - 4:30pm

Pay Range: $30.00 per hour

*Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials.
