About Healy-Murphy Center

Healy-Murphy Center (HMC) is a private, nonprofit alternative high school and child development center serving youth who have not found success in traditional school settings. Our trauma-informed, student-centered approach provides flexible pathways to earn a high school diploma or equivalency, as well as access to childcare, medical/mental health services, and wraparound supports.

Position Summary

The Principal leads HMC's high school program, ensuring academic excellence, operational effectiveness, and alignment with the school's mission. This role requires a strategic, compassionate leader who thrives in a trauma-informed, flexible environment. HMC, a private nonprofit accredited by Cognia, serves students dual-enrolled with San Antonio ISD, offering tuition-free, non-charter education to San Antonio youth. The Principal navigates this unique model, coordinating with district partners while leading within a private school setting. Experience in nonprofit or private school environments is strongly preferred.

  • Partner with families, staff, and external stakeholders to promote student success.
  • Oversee campus operations, safety, and discipline through a restorative lens.
  • Build and sustain systems to monitor student progress and use data to drive decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education or related field required.
  • Valid Texas Principal Certification (or equivalent) preferred, not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in educational leadership, ideally in alternative, trauma-informed, or high-need settings.
