Position Summary

The College of Business invites applications for a tenure-track position in Economics. The successful candidate will hold a terminal degree in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field and will contribute to teaching, scholarship, advising, and service within an ACBSP-accredited, student-centered academic environment.

This position supports the Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics and related business programs.

This position is primarily in-person and on campus; however, the successful candidate must be prepared to deliver instruction in hybrid or online formats as needed.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses across foundational, intermediate, quantitative, and applied areas of economics, including macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis, economic decision making, quantitative methods, financial systems, and capital market structures.

• Maintain regular office hours and demonstrate accessibility and engagement with students.

• Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students.

• Maintain an active research agenda resulting in peer-reviewed scholarly output.

• Participate in curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement processes aligned with ACBSP standards.

• Contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. or DBA in Economics, Finance, Applied Economics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution (ABD considered with degree completion by start date).

• A minimum of Assistant/Associate Professor of Economics graduate credit hours in Economics.

• Demonstrated potential for effective undergraduate teaching and scholarly productivity.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to teach economics and finance-related coursework.

• Background in econometrics and familiarity with statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SPSS, Python, or similar).

• Prior college-level teaching experience.

• Commitment to mentoring and supporting diverse student populations.

Summary of Full-time Faculty Member Duties and Job Requirements

Academic Advising

Faculty members serve as student academic advisors and are expected to meet with each assigned student advisee.

Environment

Faculty members work in classrooms, offices, labs, and related venues to accomplish educational and research activities.

Meetings

Each faculty member is expected to attend and participate in the program, school, college, assigned committee, and General Assembly meetings.

Office Hours

Each faculty member must schedule six (6) office hours per week. Faculty members schedule their own office hours.

Other Duties as Assigned

A faculty member may be assigned additional duties at the discretion of the Program Coordinator, School Chair, College Dean, or Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Physical Requirements

Communicate with students, staff, and colleagues. Read academic texts and materials, student papers, etc. Operate a personal computer and audio-visual equipment. Stand or sit for up to one to three hours at a time. Fly or drive to off-site meetings or conferences. Move around campus for classes and meetings. Other requirements as specified by a job description.

Scholarly Activity

Faculty member is expected to stay current in his/her field.

Teaching

Faculty members are assigned twelve hours each semester. Faculty members are expected to prepare for and meet their teaching responsibilities for every class.

University/Community Service

Faculty member participates in activities relating to university programs, courses, governance, etc., or community activities that impact on, or are impacted by, the University and which contribute to the growth and development of the student, the University and the community.
