Job Description:
The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating clear, accurate, and accessible documentation that supports system modernization, rollout, and stakeholder adoption across VESEE. This role focuses on translating complex technical and functional concepts into user guides, release notes, training materials, and reference documentation tailored to diverse audiences. The candidate will work closely with product teams, engineers, business analysts, and program stakeholders to ensure documentation is consistent, up to date, and aligned with system capabilities and delivery milestones.
Requirements:
- U.S Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
- This position is remote but may require occasional onsite meetings in McLean, VA.
- You can be based out of following states: AZ, DC, FL, GA, OH, ME, MD, SC, TX, UT, VA, NC, OK, WV.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Communication, Information Systems, or a related field
- At least 4 years of experience in technical writing or documentation roles.
- Proven experience producing user guides, release notes, training materials, and technical documentation.
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-focused content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple documentation priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting system modernization or large-scale technology rollouts.
- Experience documenting enterprise or government systems.
- Familiarity with Agile or iterative delivery environments.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical and business teams.
Responsibilities
Documentation Development:
- Create and maintain user guides, system documentation, and reference materials that explain system functionality and workflows.
- Develop clear, concise release notes that communicate changes, enhancements, and impacts across modernization releases.
Training and Adoption Support:
- Develop training materials, job aids, and walkthroughs to support user onboarding and adoption.
- Tailor documentation and training content to different stakeholder groups, including end users, administrators, and program staff.
Collaboration and Information Gathering:
- Work closely with engineers, business analysts, product owners, and subject-matter experts to gather accurate information.
- Participate in reviews and walkthroughs to validate documentation accuracy and completeness.
Modernization and Release Alignment:
- Ensure documentation aligns with modernization rollout plans, sustainment activities, and integration milestones.
- Track changes across releases to ensure documentation remains current and relevant.
Documentation Standards and Quality:
- Apply documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines consistently.
- Ensure documentation is clear, well-structured, and accessible to non-technical audiences.
Content Management and Maintenance:
- Maintain versioned documentation repositories and manage updates over time.
- Support audits, reviews, and stakeholder inquiries by providing accurate and traceable documentation
