Assembler/Test Technician – Sparks, MD
Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour
Schedule:
Monday – Friday: 8 - 5
Job Overview:
Performs production assembly operations along with complete system analysis, testing, and performance optimization of instruments. Conducts basic electrical, mechanical, and software troubleshooting to identify issues in non-functioning test equipment. Analyzes pass/fail criteria to determine solutions and escalates concerns when necessary. Serves as a subject matter expert in instrument functional performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Build, integrate, and understand the full assembly process for instruments in the production area.
- Perform functional and release testing on at least one moderately complex instrument.
- Analyze test data and results to determine pass/fail outcomes and implement corrective actions.
- Provide system performance optimization solutions based on data results, including movement precision and light systems.
- Identify defects and recommend design or process improvements.
- Read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and workmanship standards.
- Train and mentor associates in mechanical and testing activities.
- Complete production activities in compliance with regulatory requirements and company safety and quality standards.
- Process and disposition Quality Notifications (QNs).
- Interface with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Purchasing as needed.
- Follow defined specifications, operating procedures, and company policies.
- Perform standard material handling functions for raw materials and sub-assemblies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Comply with all housekeeping and safety policies.
- Work overtime as required to meet business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED with 3.5 years of manufacturing experience, or
- Associate’s degree (AA) in a technical field with relevant skills.
Basic Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to support testing of moderately complex instruments.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Strong accountability for results and process improvement.
- Commitment to Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing), including participation in Kaizen events, shift start-up meetings, and CI initiatives.
- Knowledge of mechanical tools such as torque drivers, gauges, and bits.
- Ability to read drawings, interpret dimensions, and meet technical requirements.
- Strong time management across multiple production orders.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Understanding of quality procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to manage frequent assignment changes.
Proficient/Working Skills:
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and comprehension).
- Ability to analyze charts, follow diagrams, and perform basic arithmetic.
- Basic PC skills and familiarity with Windows-based systems.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Ability to use independent judgment for planning, troubleshooting, and decision-making.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
