Location: Long Island, NY (Onsite)
Salary: $115,000 – $130,000
Schedule: Full-time | First shift (flexible 9–5)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting innovative product development initiatives. This is a high-impact role where you will lead mechanical design efforts from concept through manufacturing, while mentoring junior engineers and influencing engineering best practices. This is a growth-driven position driven by an expanding project pipeline, offering strong long-term advancement potential in a progressive, employee-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, analysis, and development of mechanical systems and components from concept through production
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks
- Perform and interpret FEA and FMEA/DFMEA to improve design robustness
- Design for injection molded plastics, sheet metal, and electro-mechanical packaging
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and ECOs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and document control teams
- Develop and execute testing and validation plans to ensure product performance, safety, and reliability
- Review manufacturing processes to ensure proper fabrication, assembly, and installation
- Identify design improvements and optimization opportunities for existing products
- Research new technologies and recommend process or tool improvements
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (design and analysis)
- Strong experience with:
- Injection molded plastics
- Sheet metal design
- GD&T
- Electro-mechanical packaging
- Experience with FEA and DFMEA methodologies
- Background in high-volume manufacturing and assembly processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PCB layout and electronics packaging
- Knowledge of product lifecycle and new product development
- Familiarity with design validation and regulatory testing
- Experience designing consumer products or electro-mechanical devices
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills
