Responsible for building both new and existing products, including custom assemblies for clients. This role involves constructing up to five subassemblies weekly, primarily focusing on mechanical assembly tasks. The Technician will follow work instructions and blueprints, collaborating with the engineering team to ensure precise and efficient assembly processes.
Responsibilities
- Assemble components and troubleshoot mechanical systems such as gears, gearboxes, motors, pumps, and other related systems using hand and power tools.
- Perform precision soldering on electronic components on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) in compliance with IPC-J-STD-001 soldering standards.
- Conduct various assembly operations, including assembling cables and mechanical subsystems of medium to high complexity.
- Perform in-process inspections to ensure quality and adherence to design specifications.
- Connect and test units using test equipment such as power supplies and multi-meters, measuring voltage, amps, wattage, and frequency.
- Evaluate and repair units that do not meet specifications, documenting test data and comparing results with standards.
Essential Skills
- Proficient in mechanical assembly, including using calipers, torque wrenches, micrometers, and other small hand tools.
- Experience in soldering through-hole and surface mount components.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues independently before consulting engineers.
- Skilled in electrical wiring and electronic assembly.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with digital multimeters, insulation resistance meters, soldering skills, and oscilloscopes.
- Capability to verify drawings, identify inaccuracies, and communicate findings effectively.
- Common reasoning ability to resolve problems independently.

Work Environment
The work environment is collaborative and supportive, with each technician having their own workstation. The company operates Monday through Friday, from 7am to 3:30pm, with one Saturday a month required for additional work. Overtime is currently frequent, but the addition of new hires aims to reduce this burden. The company fosters a small, interconnected team atmosphere, ideal for those who enjoy working closely with colleagues.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
