Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Special Education Teacher (Severe Behavior First Semester Leave Coverage)
Location: Lake Oswego, OR
Pay Rate: $40 $47 per hour (based on experience)

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Special Education Teachers for a Severe Behavior role covering the first semester leave with school districts in the Lake Oswego, OR area. This short-term but highly impactful role is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated educator passionate about helping students with behavioral challenges succeed.

Requirements:

Applicants must meet all local and state requirements, including:

  • Valid Oregon Teaching License (TSPC) with a Special Education endorsement

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters preferred)

  • Experience working with students who exhibit severe behavior challenges

  • Knowledge of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

  • Strong skills in crisis intervention, de-escalation strategies, and positive behavior supports

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, families, and support teams

  • Successful completion of required background checks and fingerprinting

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and behavioral support to students with severe behavior needs

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs aligned with student goals and district policies

  • Create and implement individualized behavior intervention strategies

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and behavioral specialists

  • Collect and analyze data to track progress, adjust interventions, and ensure compliance with IDEA and state regulations
