Key Responsibilities

  • Family Court & Case Management:
    • Prepare Show Cause orders for paternity cases and birth record assessment fees.
    • Process birth records for DHHS and State of Michigan Vital Records.
    • Update case files, including attorney changes, names, and addresses.
    • Pull and post filings for civil cases (Divorce, PPO, Criminal, Juvenile, Probate).
    • Report divorce and annulment records to the State of Michigan.
    • Organize and archive older files for storage.
  • Backup/Cross-trained Duties:
    • Attend and document proceedings, administer oaths, and process contempt charges during Circuit Court sessions.
    • Post and maintain records for Child Protective, Delinquency, Guardianship, Name Change, and Felony cases.
    • Select jurors using JIS court system; prepare and process juror questionnaires.
    • Organize jury panels, issue notices, and manage jury-related compliance.
    • Prepare jury pay vouchers for payroll submission.
  • Shared Office Duties:
    • Assist the public with notary applications and provide notary services.
    • Support genealogy research and background checks.
    • Handle filings for name changes, guardianships, power of attorney, and veteran licenses.
    • Assist with election duties, marriage licenses, CPL permits, and DBA certificates.
    • Provide certified copies of vital records and process online payments.
    • Balance daily financial transactions and maintain inventory of office supplies.
  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
    • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
    • Proficiency with office software.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure.
