Join our team at a lumber mill, where you will be operating a forklift to move pallets of wood throughout the facility. Your role will also include inspecting wood taken off machines for splits, cracks, rot, holes, and other defects, and stacking it on pallets or carts accordingly. You will separate good products from the bad, and the job involves flipping boards all day, which can be strenuous on hands and wrists.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift to transport pallets of wood within the facility.
  • Inspect wood for defects such as splits, cracks, rot, and holes.
  • Stack inspected wood on pallets or carts.
  • Separate defective wood from good products.
  • Engage in fast-paced physical labor, flipping boards throughout the day.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization during downtime.
  • Perform general production duties including machine operation, inspection, and packing.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in general labor and production settings.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment such as saws and forklifts.
  • Ability to perform fast-paced physical labor.
  • Capability to stay productive during downtime.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Saw mill experience is advantageous.
  • Mechanical aptitude for potential advancement.
  • Forklift experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Comfortable with repetitive movements, bending, and twisting.


Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $22.50/hr.
