Job Description

Job Title: Technical Writer I

Location: 100% onsite at one of 3 locations:

  1. Delta College (1961 Delta Rd, University Center, MI 48710)
  2. Horizons Conference Center (6200 State St, Saginaw, MI 48603)
  3. Hemlock Solar Plant (1885 N Orr Rd, Hemlock, MI 48626).


The workers will work 40 hours a week from one of those locations.

Duration: 5+ Months Contract with high possibilities of extension

Hours: 8am to 5pm


Interview Process: Teams Meeting - Manager will extend an offer from this one interview.


This is an ITAR facility. Candidates must comply with DOD/ITAR requirements and be US citizens or nationals.


Required skills:

  • 2 years of experience as a Tech Writer for a manufacturing company.
  • Candidates must be able to hit the ground running writing SOPs.
  • Associates preferred


Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, edit, and format technical documentation that includes process manuals, system specifications, guideline documents, and procedure manuals.
  • Collaborate with teams across departments to gather and interpret information about their documentation needs.
  • Standardize content across platforms and media to ensure consistency and clarity.
  • Review and edit existing documentation to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with standards.
  • Work closely with project teams to understand product details and develop appropriate content.
  • Convert complex technical terminologies into user-friendly language to ensure understandability.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and revisions of documents to ensure that the updates and changes in the processes are captured accurately.


Education & Experience:

  • An associate degree preferred in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field OR currently enrolled in one of these programs at an accredited college/university.
  • 2 years of experience as a Technical Writer for a manufacturing company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Proficient in using MS Office and other documentation tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
