Our client is seeking an experienced Product Designer to join its Digital Product team on a 3-month contract. This team is responsible for the user interface, user experience, and information architecture across a suite of public-facing digital products that serve millions of users both online and in person.
This role will focus on exciting new enhancements to the organization's website, including redesigning the online events experience and expanding the digital presence for its publications. The work supports both local visitors and a global audience of learners, researchers, and enthusiasts.
We're looking for someone with strong responsive web design experience who has designed content-rich digital experiences for audiences connected to physical venues, arts and culture, education, publishing, or similar industries. Experience working within and extending design systems is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Partner with product managers, developers, content producers, and marketers to identify opportunities for improving the discovery and presentation of events, publications, and other digital experiences.
- Conduct user research to understand user needs, validate concepts, and inform design decisions.
- Create thoughtful user experiences by developing user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Balance user needs, stakeholder goals, organizational requirements, data insights, and technical considerations throughout the design process.
- Maintain and evolve established digital design standards and ensure consistency across web experiences.
- Present design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.
- Prepare production-ready designs, specifications, and collaborate closely with engineering throughout implementation.
Requirements
- 3 years of Product Design or UX Design experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Product Design, Graphic Design (UI/UX concentration), or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of responsive web projects, design case studies, and end-to-end product design work.
- Excellent visual and interaction design skills with a strong understanding of typography, layout, color, responsive design, and user-centered design principles.
- Experience conducting user research and A/B testing that resulted in measurable improvements to product performance or user experience.
- Experience working within established design systems.
- Strong understanding of web standards, accessibility, and responsive design best practices.
- Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design and prototyping tools.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS/SASS, Semantic DOM, and JavaScript.
- Experience designing for cultural institutions, arts organizations, editorial, publishing, education, or other content-rich consumer experiences is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile product development processes.
- Strong communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
