Job Purpose/Summary
The Community Cultural Coordinator plays an important role in promoting cultural awareness, engagement, and preservation of Native traditions and practices within the Family Resource Center and Native American Child Care Center. This role involves planning, organizing, and executing programs that foster community connections, support cultural revitalization, and education about Native American heritage. The Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Sacred Path team and community members to ensure that cultural programming aligns with community values and needs. This position is Hybrid - Community Cultural Coordinator must go to the Long Beach office 2 to 3 times a week, as well as attend the cultural workshops.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Cultural Programming & Event Coordination:
- Plan, develop, and manage cultural events, workshops, and programs focused on Native American heritage, traditions, and practices.
- Coordinate educational outreach initiatives that enhance awareness of Native American history, culture, and contemporary issues.
- Facilitate and organize community gatherings, festivals, and ceremonies in collaboration with tribal leaders and community members.
Community Engagement & Outreach:
- Identify opportunities for cultural programming through regular communication and consultation with agency advisory committees and needs assessments.
- Attend meetings to develop partnerships with Native community members, tribal organizations, and other stakeholders to support initiatives that promote cultural pride and preservation.
- Attend outreach events, as needed.
Cultural Preservation & Advocacy:
- Support efforts to preserve and revitalize Indigenous languages, arts, and cultural practices.
- Advocate for Native American cultural representation within broader organizational initiatives and external partnerships.
- Collaborate with local schools, museums, and cultural centers to enhance curricula and exhibitions focused on Native American culture and history.
Partnership & Collaboration:
- Attend meetings to build and maintain partnerships with Native organizations and cultural institutions.
- Represent Sacred Path at cultural events and other public forums, ensuring the visibility of Native contributions.
Administrative Duties:
- Register clients with Sacred Path and enroll them in the Family Resource Center.
- Manage budgets for cultural programs and events, ensuring proper allocation of resources.
- Prepare reports on program outcomes, community engagement efforts, and partnership activities.
- Track metrics of success for community outreach and cultural promotion projects.
- Assist in obtaining documentation required by Sacred Path and/or funding source.
- Complete tasks by the deadline and work with the team to meet goals.
Other:
- Other duties, as assigned or required, to fulfill the mission of Sacred Path.
Experience & Qualifications
- Deep knowledge & understanding of Native American cultures, traditions, and histories.
- Experience working with Native communities, in a similar cultural coordinator role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships within diverse communities.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with a focus on cultural programming and event coordination.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of Native American cultural protocols and values.

- Excel, Word, Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs), iPad.
- Utilize technology tools for virtual meetings.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records; ensuring data accuracy, security, and adherence to privacy regulations to safeguard sensitive information.
- Facilitate virtual educational workshops using video conferencing platforms, as appropriate.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk frequently, sit, bend, twist, talk, and hear. There are prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with vendors, and staff.
Mental Demands
There are various deadlines associated with this position. The employee must also multi-task and interact with many people on a variety of issues that are, at times, very complicated.

Other Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Pass fingerprint clearance
- Maintain annual negative TB test results on file
- Pass a post-offer drug test
- Possess and maintain a reliable vehicle with valid CA drivers license and active auto insurance
- Available to work evenings and weekends, as needed
- Willing to travel, as needed (travel time could range from 30 - 40%)
