Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide expert nursing care in a specialized stepdown unit supporting patients with complex cardiac and neurological conditions. This 13-week contract role offers a dynamic day-shift schedule and the opportunity to work in a collaborative, teaching hospital environment.
Location:Position is based in Princeton, Indiana, with occasional float opportunities to nearby campuses approximately 8 to 11 miles away. The setting includes a 16-bed stepdown unit renowned for strong team support and patient-focused care.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring post-cardiac interventions, neurological monitoring, and critical care management.
- Interpret tele and 12-lead EKGs and manage infusion drips such as antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin.
- Conduct post-surgical assessments and neuro evaluations including NIHSS and dysphagia screens.
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation using EPIC after completing required checkoff.
- Float within the skillset to sister facilities as needed with appropriate advance notice.
- Participate in precepting students and new hires as part of a teaching hospital setting.
- Work 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm, with three weekends out of every six and proactive adaptation to schedule requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current active compact RN license.
- Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS.
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience, including at least 1 year in stepdown nursing and trauma level II exposure.
- Recent EPIC charting experience required.
- Proven skills in tele/12-lead EKG interpretation, critical drip management, and neurological assessments.
- Preferred experience with home vents, drains, shunts, and Narcan drips.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, resilience, and adaptability.
Additional Details:
- Guaranteed minimum 36 hours weekly; 48 hours accepted upon request with overtime after 52 hours.
- Navy blue scrubs mandatory; no competing logos allowed.
- COVID-19 vaccination not required at this time.
- Must adhere to a 40-mile radius rulelocal candidates outside this are eligible.
- Failure to report for three call-ins may result in termination.
