Role Description
The Sous Chef will play a critical role in maintaining high kitchen standards and crafting exceptional dishes. This full-time, on-site position in Maui involves assisting the Executive Chef in meal preparation, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring consistent food quality and portioning. Responsibilities include developing new menu items, managing inventory, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and adhering to safety and sanitation protocols. The Sous Chef will also be responsible for mentoring junior team members and ensuring efficient kitchen operations during service hours.
Qualifications
- Culinary skills, including menu development, food preparation, and plating techniques.
- Leadership and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to manage, train, and mentor kitchen staff.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to coordinate efficient kitchen operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining composure and attention to detail under pressure.
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen, including roles in supervisory or leadership capacities.
- Relevant culinary certification or equivalent professional experience is beneficial.
