Position Title: Handyman / Maintenance Technician
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Facilities Manager
Job Summary:
The Handyman is responsible for the general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the school’s buildings, grounds, and equipment. This role ensures that the physical campus remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors, while supporting the mission and values of a Catholic educational institution.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Perform routine maintenance tasks (e.g., painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, minor HVAC work).

Inspect school facilities and report or address safety issues, damages, or required repairs.

Assist with the setup and breakdown of school events (e.g., moving furniture, setting up chairs/tables).

Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and service interruptions.

Monitor and maintain school grounds (e.g., minor landscaping, clearing walkways, exterior upkeep).

Work with vendors, contractors, or service providers when outside services are required.

Maintain records of work completed and supplies used.

Respond to emergency maintenance issues promptly and professionally.

Support custodial staff when needed, especially during absences or special events.

Uphold and model Catholic values and respectful conduct in all interactions.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.
-
3+ years of experience in general maintenance, handyman, or facilities-related role.

Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting.

Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.

Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if required).

Solid work history.

Must pass background check and meet Safe Environment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working in a school

Knowledge of Catholic values and willingness to support the school’s mission.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
