Role overview
As a Process Engineering Technician, you will support manufacturing and sustaining engineering activities for life science instruments produced at our Indianapolis, IN site. This on-site role reports to the Sr. Manager, Manufacturing/Process Engineering and focuses on resolving product and process issues impacting quality, delivery, and cost while meeting regulatory and company standards.
A day in the role
- Provide sustaining engineering support across key product lines: Particle Characterization, Centrifuge, and Liquid Handling Automation.
- Own electrical and mechanical design work—concept through release—to address customer quality concerns, improve operational metrics (delivery, yield, cost), and implement regulatory or feature-driven changes.
- Lead and document design change initiatives in compliance with design control procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve technical assembly issues using structured problem-solving (5 Why, Scientific Method), reliability thinking, and error-proofing.
- Schedule calibrations and perform preventive maintenance on production and internal instrumentation.
- Troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems; read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Support non-conforming event (Out of Tolerance) investigations and drive timely closure within required timeframes.
What you bring
- Associate degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred experience
- Hands-on calibration and preventive maintenance of complex electro-mechanical, fluid handling, pneumatic, and thermal systems to SOPs and quality/regulatory standards.
- Administration and maintenance of calibration tools and records.
- Strong knowledge of digital/analog electronics; proficiency reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Physical requirements
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Able to stand for extended periods; work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions.
