We are looking for a Part Time Financial Analyst to support a non-profit organization in Madison, Wisconsin through a 6 month Contract assignment. This position will contribute to core financial operations by delivering analysis, reporting, budgeting support, and guidance on cash and investment activity. The role also partners with accounting and compliance functions to help maintain accurate records, support audits, and assist with nonprofit tax reporting, including Form 990 preparation.


Responsibilities:

• Reconcile monthly dues-related revenue and investigate discrepancies to help maintain accurate financial records.

• Develop recurring and ad hoc financial reports, analyses, and project-based summaries for leadership and stakeholders.

• Monitor cash activity and produce reporting that supports sound cash management decisions.

• Provide analytical support and recommendations related to investment planning and oversight.

• Assist with budget development, tracking, and variance review across assigned areas.

• Support nonprofit tax compliance activities and contribute to the preparation of annual Form 990 filings.

• Coordinate with internal and external partners during the annual audit process and help organize required documentation.

• Maintain records for authorized signers at financial institutions and ensure updates are processed accurately.

• Review accounting activity such as journal entries, payroll-related postings, and post-employment benefit trust transactions for completeness and accuracy.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or CPA and at least five years of relevant experience in finance or accounting.

• Strong understanding of accounting practices, financial systems, and business operations.

• Experience conducting financial analysis, project-based evaluation, and feasibility or cost-benefit studies.

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to manage priorities independently, work under tight deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

• High level of discretion, integrity, and commitment to handling confidential information appropriately.

• Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree or relevant certification, along with database experience.
