Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A specialized nursing opportunity is available for experienced RNs ready to provide advanced patient care in a dynamic float role. This position demands expertise in managing complex cardiac, pulmonary, and trauma patients within an intermediate care setting. Candidates must hold an active Virginia or Compact nursing license and be prepared to float across multiple units, including IMC, Cardiac Telemetry, and Med-Surg areas.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Active VA or Compact RN license required at time of application
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications mandatory; NIH preferred
- Proficient in cardiac telemetry and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units
- Skilled in use of Rapid Response Teams and isolation precautions
- Familiarity with central line and PICC line care, heparin protocols, and cardiac drip management
- Preferred skills include starting IVs, wound care/wound vac, traumatic brain injury care, peripheral nerve block catheters, and surgical drains
- Ability to manage patients requiring advanced airway support such as tracheostomies, ventilators, high flow O2, or BIPAP
Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with complex cardiac, pulmonary, and trauma diagnoses
- Administer and titrate continuous cardiac medication infusions
- Provide pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
- Float between specified units as needed with flexibility and professionalism
- Participate in rapid response interventions when necessary
- Maintain compliance with vaccination and infection control policies
Shift Details:
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:00), three days every other week
- No call responsibilities
