St. Louis Voices Academy of Media Arts is an innovative charter public school serving students and families within St. Louis City. The school began with kindergarten through first grade and will add one grade per year, ultimately serving grades K5. St. Louis Voices Academy emphasizes media and storytelling, whole-child development, real-world inquiry, and progressive learner autonomy as foundational design elements supporting its mission.

Role Overview
This Teacher-in-Residence (TIR) position is a hands-on opportunity for an aspiring educator to develop teaching skills, support student growth, and make a lasting impact. The TIR will work alongside the lead teacher, supporting classroom culture and academic instruction in 3rd grade, and will transition into the lead teacher role in the 2026-2027 school year.
We seek candidates who are growth-oriented, innovative, and committed to a high-quality education for all students. This role is ideal for someone eager to refine their teaching practice in a supportive, professional learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Co-Teach & Support Learning Assist in lesson planning, deliver small-group and whole-class instruction, and differentiate for diverse learners.
- Foster a Positive Classroom Culture Support a learning environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and collaboration.
- Engage in Professional Growth Participate in training, coaching, and collaborative planning to strengthen instructional practice.
- Use Data to Drive Instruction Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Build Relationships Establish meaningful connections with students, families, and colleagues to support student success.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field
- 1-2 years of experience preferred (teaching, tutoring, or youth development)
- Passion for urban education, media arts, and storytelling
- Commitment to educational equity and student-centered learning
- Ability to internalize feedback and adapt teaching practices
