Okie Staffing is currently hiring a skilled SubArc Welder. This role involves performing submerged arc welding (SubArc) to join metal parts and fabricate structural components in a fast-paced production environment.

The ideal candidate has experience working with SubArc equipment, welding techniques, and safety procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to read blueprints and welding symbols is essential to ensure quality welds and complete parts to specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate SubArc welding equipment to perform welds on metal components
  • Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols to ensure proper assembly
  • Prepare materials for welding, including cleaning and positioning
  • Inspect welds to identify defects and ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working order
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines
  • Experience working in a high-production manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Ability to meet production quotas while maintaining quality standards
  • Comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled shop (heat/cold, noise, fumes)

Requirements

    • Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with Submerged Arc Welding (SAW / SubArc)
    • Ability to set up, adjust, and operate SubArc welding equipment independently
    • Strong understanding of welding parameters (voltage, amperage, travel speed, flux control)
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings
    • Experience welding carbon steel (stainless and alloy steel a plus)
    • Ability to perform multi-pass welds and maintain consistent weld quality
    • Must be able to pass a SubArc welding test (plate and/or pipe depending on job) .
    • Familiarity with automated or tractor-mounted SubArc systems preferred
    • Knowledge of flux handling, storage, and reuse procedures
    • Understanding of weld penetration, bead profile, and defect prevention
    • Experience using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, gauges)
    • Basic understanding of welding codes such as AWS D1.1 or ASME standards
