Experience: 8+ years of experience in the electric utility industry desired
Salary Range: $120,000 – $155,000 per year (Pay commensurate with experience)
Responsibilities:
· Supervise construction to ensure compliance with PSEG Long Island and OSHA rules and the project Health & Safety Plan.
· Respond to safety incidents, perform fact finding, and support the implementation of lessons learned.
· Perform electrical clearance activities on transmission and distribution systems.
· Interpret and apply all electrical clearance and control rules and processes.
· Interpret and understand transmission, distribution, and substation design drawings, specifications, and equipment designs.
· Understand electrical and civil construction methods and equipment.
· Supervise construction to ensure compliance with project requirements; direct contractor corrections as needed.
· Perform quality assurance inspections and direct contractor corrections to maintain compliance.
· Resolve design issues during construction, implement corrective actions.
· Create and maintain daily progress reports and lead weekly project update meetings.
· Supervise material and equipment testing; coordinate review of testing results.
· Update and distribute as-built drawings.
· Understand construction contracts and enforce contractor compliance.
· Evaluate work progress and review invoices; direct contractor corrections.
· Manage change orders and monitor contract costs.
· Ensure public safety and resolve customer complaints related to construction.
· Serve as jobsite liaison with municipal officials; interpret permit requirements.
· Notify municipalities and coordinate permit inspections.
· Understand construction schedules and activity sequencing.
· Monitor construction progress, manpower, and adherence to project schedules.
· Coordinate activities with PSEG Long Island construction organizations.
· Review material orders for accuracy; coordinate delivery of materials and manage returns.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, plus a minimum of 3 years direct field construction experience.
· Candidates without a degree but with at least 5 years of significant direct construction experience will be considered.
· Strong knowledge of PSEG Long Island and OSHA safety rules, and construction work methods/procedures for electrical substations, transmission, and distribution work (including civil construction).
· Ability to evaluate contractor workforce performance, equipment, tools, and construction methods.
· Willingness and ability to work off-hours, overnight shifts, and weekends, including extended periods as required (~400 job site visits/year).
· Ability to drive to jobsite locations throughout the PSEG Long Island service territory. A valid US driver’s license with a safe driving record is required.
