Job Description
This role provides direct support to a minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (MIGS) and women’s health practice by delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring efficient clinic operations. The Certified Medical Assistant greets and rooms patients, manages clinical documentation in the electronic health record, prepares charts, and coordinates appointments. This position suits a friendly, outgoing medical assistant who is comfortable working in a fast-paced women’s health environment and collaborating closely with providers and another medical assistant.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients in a courteous and professional manner and escort them to examination rooms.
- Perform patient intake for women’s health, OB/GYN, reproductive medicine, and fertility visits as appropriate.
- Accurately document patient information and clinical data in the electronic health record (Allscripts).
- Prepare patient charts for the next day, including creating new charts, filing and pulling charts, and ensuring completeness.
- Check charts for required referrals and authorizations prior to patient visits to support smooth clinic flow.
- Prepare charge tickets accurately and in a timely manner.
- Stock examination rooms and triage areas with appropriate medical supplies to ensure readiness for patient care.
- Conduct regular inventory of medical supplies and reorder items as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Schedule patient appointments with providers and residents’ clinics when appropriate.
- Call patients to remind and confirm upcoming appointments and reschedule patients from the bump list as needed.
- Collaborate with 3–5 providers and another medical assistant to manage a steady daily patient flow.
- Perform chart preparation and review to ensure all necessary information is available for each visit.
- Support clinic operations and patient care by performing other related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential required.
- Ideally 1+ years of experience as a medical assistant, preferably in a clinical setting.
- 1+ years of women’s health experience preferred, including OB/GYN, reproductive medicine, or fertility.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically Allscripts.
- Strong computer skills and overall technical aptitude.
- Ability to accurately document in electronic health records and manage patient charts.
- Ability to perform patient intake and support providers in a women’s health environment.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Friendly, outgoing, and professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy clinic with a high volume of patients.
- Strong organizational skills to manage chart preparation, scheduling, and supply inventory.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in OB/GYN, women’s health, reproductive medicine, or fertility clinics is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple providers and clinical staff.
- Comfort working with a structured schedule and managing a consistent patient flow throughout the day.
- Attention to detail in verifying referrals, authorizations, and charge tickets.
- Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with patients by phone and in person.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (less than once a week) between locations if needed.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position with standard hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The clinic environment is fast-paced, with a typical daily patient flow of approximately 16 patients in the morning and 15 in the afternoon.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
